La Plaza fue definitivamente abierta en 1759 (SXVIII), es de estilo barroco.
Ha sufrido varias remodelaciones a lo largo de la historia. En 1885 se colocó en el centro la estatua del Cardenal Belluga, cuando ésta se trasladó a la Glorieta, en su lugar se puso una fuente con un pequeño jardín. En 1995 lo retiraron, quedando un espacio completamente abierto.
It is one of the most beautiful squares, located in the centre of Murcia and presided by the cathedral. The square was permanently opened in 1759, and is in Barroque style.
It has been through many refurbished throughout its history. In 1885, the statue of the Cardenal Belluga was moved from the centre of the square to la Glorieta, in front of the town hall. In its place a fountain was placed with a small garden. In 1995 it was taken down, leaving it a completely open space.
